Is your tallow for cooking or skincare?
Both. Our certified organic, grass-fed tallow is food-grade and safe to eat, while also perfectly suited to skincare. It’s purified gently on the farm — never bleached, deodorised, or heavily refined — so it retains its full nutrient profile for both culinary and topical use. Hayes Meadow tallow for cooking and skincare reflects our belief in simple, honest ingredients that serve more than one purpose. We render our own tallow slowly from local, grass-fed animals and use it in both our natural skincare products and everyday cooking. We also source each batch locally to ensure traceability and quality.
Tallow is a traditional ingredient with many uses. In skincare, it provides deep moisture, supports skin repair, and protects against dryness. For cooking, it offers a clean, stable fat that adds gentle flavour without the need for additives. In both settings, Hayes Meadow tallow performs beautifully because of its natural composition — rich in vitamins and fatty acids that work with, not against, the body.
Are your grass-fed and ethical claims verified?
Yes. We are Certified Grass Fed & Finished, Animal Welfare Approved, and Certified Non-GMO by A Greener World. Independent certification guarantees our tallow comes from pasture-raised animals and environmentally responsible farms.
Do you use chemicals or preservatives?
No. Our tallow is purified using heat and filtration only — no caustic soda, bleaching earths, or stabilisers.
What are the health benefits?
1. Stronger Bones – Saturated fat is required for calcium to be effectively incorporated into bone.
2. Improved Liver Health – Saturated fat has been shown to protect the liver from alcohol and medications.
3. Healthy Lungs – For proper function, the air spaces of the lungs have to be coated with a thin layer of lung surfactant. The fat content of lung surfactant is 100 percent saturated fatty acids. Replacement of these critical fats by other types of fat makes faulty surfactant and potentially causes breathing difficulties.
4. Healthy brain – Your brain is mainly made of fat and cholesterol. The lion’s share of the fatty acids in the brain are actually saturated. A diet that skimps on healthy saturated fats robs your brain of the raw materials it needs to function optimally.
5. Proper nerve signalling – Certain saturated fats, particularly those found in butter, lard, coconut oil, and palm oil, function directly as signalling messengers that influence metabolism, including such critical jobs as the appropriate release of insulin.
6. Strong immune system – Saturated fats found in butter and coconut oil (myristic acid and lauric acid) play key roles in immune health. Loss of sufficient saturated fatty acids in white blood cells hampers their ability to recognise and destroy foreign invaders, such as viruses, bacteria, and fungi.
